Promotional Belt Testing
The August Belt Testing is scheduled for Saturday, August 13th. Belt testings are the culmination of a student’s hard work throughout the cycle as they attempt to demonstrate everything they’ve learned in the hopes of achieving their next rank! These testings provide an valuable opportunity for students as they experience the pressure of performing in front of their peers in an environment where everyone wants them to succeed.
Promotional Belt Testing will take place at the Taekwondo school. Friends and family are encouraged to attend and support their student! While testing is going on we ask that all spectators remain respectfully quiet so as to not distract the testers.
Once your child has 8 stripes (or 10 for Lil’ Dragons), they are eligible to register for testing! Registration opens on August 1st and ends on August 10th. Click the button below to register today!
When a student successfully passes their Belt Testing, their first opportunity to obtain their new belt is at our Awards Ceremony. This Awards Ceremony will take place at the Taekwondo school on Tuesday, August 16th. The ceremony will be split into two sections:
6:00 PM for all Lil’ Dragons, White Belts, Yellow Belts, Orange, and Senior Orange Belts that are earning new ranks
6:30 PM for all Green Belts and above earning new ranks
To celebrate the end of Summer, we will also have a theme for this Awards Ceremony: Summer Vibe! Wear your best summer clothes and celebrate your success with all of your teammates!
Tournaments are an integral aspect of training for all martial artists which is why we require all of our students to attend at least one tournament before testing for the rank of Black Belt. National Tournaments take that experience to a whole new level by giving students the opportunity to test their skills against students of similar age and experience from all across the country! Taekwondo America provides a fantastic event with these national tournaments and I recommend all students of any rank and age to attend.
Tournaments are a fantastic motivational tool for students since unlike baseball, football, and soccer we don’t have a game every week. In fact, there are only two National Tournaments a year (every January and September). Competing against unfamiliar faces that you don’t see every day in class in front of a panel of judges provides an inimitable learning experience for students that can take their training to a whole new level. And there is no grander way to experience that than at a national tournament!
There are several competitions to participate in for this tournament. The standard competition includes Forms and Sparring/One-step Competitions. You can also opt to compete in the Board Breaking Competition, Freestyle Forms, and Team Sparring! More information can be found on the Taekwondo America website or via the registration link below!
School Supply Drive
Since we opened our Taekwondo school in February 2020, we’ve always strived to be active in assisting our community. One of the ways we plan on doing so is by closing out every month in 2022 with charitable works.
This month, from August 2nd – August 16th, we’ll be running a school supply drive to donate supplies to students around the community that need them for this upcoming school year. We will have donation bins set up for Pre-School, K-5th Grade, 6th – 8th Grade, and 9th – 12th Grade. If all of the donation bins are filled prior to the deadline (Awards Ceremony on August 16th) then we will have an Ice Cream Day on Friday, August 19th!
Some items to consider donating include: notebooks, pencil pouches, hand sanitizer, tissues, bookbags, crayons, etc. Please make sure all items donated are new and not used. Let’s work together to give every student in our community the tools they need to learn and grow this school year!
If you are a teacher, send us your school supply list and we will do our best to help take care of it!
Our next sparring workout for teen and adult Orange Belts and above is scheduled for Saturday, August 27th at 11:00 AM. Sparring workouts are a great way to develop your skills by getting in as many rounds as possible with people that you may not spar in class. These workouts are informal; meaning we’ll wear regular workout clothes, play some music, and just have a ton of fun sparring until you can’t spar anymore! Come ready to sweat, smile, and kick people in the head!
