Striping System
Our Lil’ Dragons, Juniors, and Teens students track their progress using a comprehensive striping system during testing cycles. This system breaks down the course materials into smaller segments, allowing us to evaluate their development meaningfully. The stripes serve as short-term goals, motivating students to work towards bigger achievements like advancing to the next rank or even reaching the black belt.
Our striping system employs two colors to represent a student’s proficiency level in a subject. Not earning a stripe indicates a need for improvement in that specific area before progressing. A white stripe signifies satisfactory knowledge of the material, similar to a “B” or “C” grade. A black stripe demonstrates a level of mastery that exceeds expectations for the current rank, comparable to an “A” grade.
Lil’ Dragons can earn a maximum of 10 stripes before advancing to the next rank. To be eligible for testing, they must earn a minimum of 8 stripes, demonstrating their successful performance of all testable material.
Juniors and Teens can earn up to 8 stripes at their rank. They must earn all 8 stripes before becoming eligible to test for the next rank.
Juniors and Teens have a FLEX STRIPE as one of their 8 stripes that can be earned at any point in the testing cycle.

Ranking Systems

Our Lil’ Dragons Ranking System is designed to help our youngest students experience the excitement of achievement while preparing them for a smooth transition into the Juniors Curriculum.
Lil’ Dragons may have the opportunity to advance into the Juniors Program early by consistently demonstrating strong focus, self-control, and the ability to retain and perform longer technique sequences.

Our Juniors participate in a nationally certified curriculum as they work toward earning their Black Belt. The Junior Program is designed specifically for elementary school-aged children.
Students in the Juniors Program may be eligible to skip certain junior ranks if they demonstrate advanced proficiency during the testing cycle. To be considered, students must meet specific benchmarks, such as:

Attending a minimum of 20 classes during the cycle

Participating in tournaments and special seminars

Consistently demonstrating hard work and strong effort
Juniors who reach 1st Degree Senior Black Belt and wish to pursue 2nd Degree Black Belt must transition into the Teen Program, pending prior approval.

Our Teens follow a nationally certified curriculum as they work toward earning their Black Belt. The Teen Program is specifically designed for middle school and high school students.
Because of their more advanced cognitive and physical development, Teens move through an accelerated version of the Juniors Program. However, Teens who consistently struggle to meet benchmark expectations—such as regularly earning stripes during stripe testing—may be placed into Junior Ranks for better support and progression.
Teens who achieve 2nd Degree Senior Black Belt and wish to pursue 3rd Degree Black Belt must transition into the Adult Program, pending prior approval.

Our Adults follow a nationally certified curriculum as they progress toward earning their Black Belt and beyond. The Adult Program is open to students ages 16 and older, providing training that matches their maturity, goals, and physical capabilities.
